Position Summary

The TTC Pension Plan is seeking a passionate and dedicated Human Resources Consultant to join our HR team. This is a senior professional level, that will be reporting to the VP of Human Resources, you will be a strategic business partner, providing valuable HR guidance to managers and employees. You will implement and oversee initiatives aimed at enhancing workplace culture and fostering employee engagement. Your insights and expertise will be essential in shaping our HR strategies and creating a learning, supportive and inclusive environment. The role requires effective communication and writing skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to effectively partner with all levels of the organization.

   What will I do?

Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

       Subject Matter Expert Lead

  • Provide HR subject matter expertise (SME) to the HR team, people managers, employees and across the organization.
  • Oversee HR operational day-to-day activities (i.e. HRIS, job descriptions, employee handbook, etc.), ensuring that HR subject matter expertise is appropriately being provided to the organization, with compassion, accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Take on a proactive leadership role in providing HR expertise to department and organization wide projects, task, situations, and assignments.

        Individual Contributor 

  • Support the development of department short to long-term plans to buildout the HR department, it’s strategies and programs, while aligning with TTCPP’s strategic business objectives.
  • Provide HR advice and guidance regarding low to complex human resources matters; by addressing questions, clarifying ambiguities, and referencing appropriate legislation, programs, policies, and resources, as needed.
  • Support in the development of HR metrics, dashboards, decks, memos and reporting to the TTC Pension Plan Board and appropriate Committees.
  • Lead the full cycle of the talent acquisition program (e.g., job postings, needs assessment, sourcing, resume review, interview process, training, etc.), while partnering with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., hiring managers, agencies, job fairs, etc.) to successfully fill the vacant and upcoming positions.
  • Manage the end-to-end onboarding program, ensuring new hires are integrated smoothly into the organization (e.g. onboarding plans, welcome kits, etc.).
  • Lead the annual performance and compensation review process, by providing guidance and training to all levels of the organization.
  • Provide support in the end-to-end development of learning & development programs (e.g. curating learning programs, needs assessments, planning and execution on off-site training, sourcing of consultants/partnerships, etc.), while partnering with managers and employees, to identify skills gaps, and develop targeted individual/group training programs.
  • Lead short/long-term disability/WSIB cases, ensuring efficient case management, accurate documentation, and creation of return to work plans as applicable.
  • Assist in managing employee benefit programs, which include administration, communication, changes/creation, cost analysis, value of benefits, to employees and the organization.
  • Support and promote employee resource groups (ERGs) by providing resources, facilitating events, and fostering an inclusive environment that encourages diverse perspectives collaboration.
  • Lead with diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices in creating programs, policies and supporting human resources matters.
  • Actively build strong working relationships with employees and managers, to provide support on human resources matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    What skills & qualifications do I require to be successful?

  • High-school diploma or post-secondary education or equivalent work experience in Human Resources.
  • Acquired or working towards a Human Resources designation (i.e. CHRP, CHRL, etc.).
  • 8+ years of progressive work experience in the human resources field, with a focus on HR and talent acquisition business partnership and strategic HR management.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, performance management, learning and development, career succession planning and progression).
  • Understanding of human resources trends, case law, and legislation (e.g., Human Rights Code, Occupational Health, and Safety, Employment Standards Act).
  • Experience using Microsoft Suites, an HRIS and ATS (i.e., ADP Workforce Now), various job boards/platforms (e.g., LinkedIn Recruiter, indeed, etc.) and sourcing best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), to provide clear and concise responses to inquiries from employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to performance management, employee relations, roadblocks, issues and make actionable recommendations.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to build and maintain productive relationships, that foster cross team collaboration and clear transparent communication.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines, without compromising quality or accuracy.
